POORE, DAVID HUFFMAN - Aug. 21, 1940
David Huffman Poore was born November 27,
1870 and died August 15, 1940 of age 69 years,
8 months and 18 days. He was united in marriage with Dora Russell.
To this union was born two children, Leota Bussell of Shawanee and Mrs.
Theresa Johnson of Oklahoma.
Later he was married to Margaret Watts.
To this union six children were born, Mrs. Minnie Brant of Middlesboro,
MRs. Mattie Forley of Arthur, Henry Poore of Clouds, Mrs. Delcie Poore
of Clouds, Marcus Poore and Mrs. Nora Mayes who are deceased.
At an early age he professed faith in Christ
and joined the Providence Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a
faithful member until death.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, 2
children, Edward and Clark both of Middlesboro.
One precious to our heart is gone, The voice
we loved is still; A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled.
Funeral services were conducted by the Reverends
Edgar Owens, Wint Bolton and Hugh Vancel at Clouds Memorial Baptist Church.
Burial was in the family cemetery.

Mrs. Mattie Woods (Townsley) Whiteaker, daughter
of James P. and Loutisha Townsley, passed away March 19 at the Benham Hospital
in Benham, Ky.
She was born Sept. 26, 1872 near New Tazewell,
Tenn. and in 1888 professed Christianity, joining the Methodist Church.
Nov. 2, 1889 she became the bride of Robert Lee Whitaker.
Left behind to mourn her passing are one sister,
four sons, one daughter and 18 grand children and a host of friends.
The children are Ed Whitaker, Henry Whitaker and Curren Whitaker of Benham,
Ky., Stirl Whitaker and Mossie Kate Whitaker of Tazewell. Mrs. Ella
Moore of Cumberland Gap, Tenn. is a sister.
She passed beyond triumphant in the faith
she professed and there are many who remembering her great example believe
that their loss is the gain of heaven. Rev. R. R. Patton conducted
the service at Benham, Ky.
Bearers were Lon Shipley, Lawrence Stamper,
Oscar Pippin and Joe Lambert.

Whiteaker, Robert Lee - Jan. 16, 1935
Robert Lee Whiteaker passed away January 10th
at 3:20 a.m. at his home two miles north of Tazewell after a lingering
illness of fourteen months.
Mr. Whitaker was born near Cave Springs and
had spent all his life in Claiborne County. He was a member of the
Dogwood M. E. church at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife and one daughter,
Mossie Kate Whiteaker, and four sons, Edd and Curren Whiteaker of Benham,
Ky. and Henry and Stirl of Tazewell, and two brothers Clinton and Estell
Whiteaker.
Funeral services were conducted Friday at
ten o’clock at the home of Rev. Robin Harrell. Interment was in the
Cosby cemetery.

Moore, Sarah Ellen Townsley - Dec. 6, 1939
Sarah Ellen Townsley Moore was born June 5,
1879 to James and Loutisha Townsley at Tazewell, Tennessee in the County
of Claiborne.
She was married July 21, 1894 to John Marion
Moore of Tazewell, Tenn. and to which union ten children girls were born,
seven of whom survive.
Some months ago she made peace with God and
began preparations to inhabit one of those many mansions prepared for the
blessed.
Her passing was at her home, near Cumberland
Gap, Tennessee but on the Kentucky side, at
6:25 a.m. on Nov. 25, 1939.
She leaves behind her husband, John M. (Dob)
Moore and children as follows: James Haskel at home; Clifford Dell
of Cumberland Gap; Minnie Mildred at home; Lew Gar at home; Shirley Edith
at home; Roy Olan at home; Verl Sona at home; one daughter in law Mrs.
Clibord (Laura) Moore and three grand children, Sidney Doyle Moore, Roy
Jerome Moore, Delores Janette; a sister in law, Mrs. Lizzie Townsley of
Tazewell, Tenn. Many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the home of
Mr. Sterl Whitaker, Sunday afternoon, Nov. 26 at
2:00 p.m. by Rev. Joe Lambert. Her body was laid to rest in the
Woods Cemetery. Cawood Funeral Home in charge.
Abt 1894 when Sarah Ellen was 14, she married John Marion “Dob” MOORE, M, son of John “Jack” MOORE, M & Nancy Ann MAYES, F, in Claiborne Co., TN. Born abt 1873 in Beverly, Knox Co., TN. John Marion “Dob” died in Knoxville, Knox Co., TN, on 28 Oct 1946; he was 73. Occupation: Farmer; Iron Miner.

MOORE, JOHN MARION - Nov. 7, 1946
John Marion Moore departed this life on October
28 at the age of 74. He was born at Beverly in Knox County but spent
the greater part of his life in Claiborne County.
Deceased is survived by three daughters Mildred
Moore and Mrs. Verl Lambert of Tazewell, Mrs. Edith North of Speedwell;
three sons James and Garr of Tazewell and Clifford of Lafayette, Indiana.
Other survivors are seven grandchildren and one sister Mrs. Lizzie Townsley
of Tazewell. His wife preceded him in death about 7 years ago.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev.
Joe Lambert at the Fair View Church and interment was in the Cosby Cemetery.
Coffey Funeral Home had charge of the funeral.
