     I. N. Townsley, 59, died at his home near Cave Springs at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday.  He is survived by 4 sons and 4 daughters, Hugh, Dillard, Jake, Bruce, Parlie, Addie, Zelda, and Nannie.
     Funeral services were held this morning at the Woods cemetery at ten oÕclock with the Cave Springs Council of the Jr. O. U. A. M. conducting it, and the Rev. Robin Herrell officiating.
     Mr. Townsley was preceded to the grave by his wife six years ago.

     Cowan, Samuel A. - Mar. 24, 1909
     Samuel A. Cowan died in New Tazewell March 17th, after lingering illness.  He was born in Washington County, Va.  He first married Ada Townsley.  His second wife was Mrs. Mary Noe, who survives him.  He was a carpenter by trade and built the Sanders hotel, the Drug store house, and a number of other houses in and around Tazewell.  He then went into the mercantile business with his brother I. N. Cowan in the building now used as a hotel by Mr. Sanders, and sold goods there for a number of years.  When they quit the mercantile business they bought the South in farm and divided it.  S. A. Cowan getting the portion now owned by Reb (Reo) Kinzer, and a greater portion of what is now New Tazewell.  He afterwards sold his farm and went to Oregon with his wife and two daughters Mrs. D. T. Hodges, and Mrs. Noe.  His wife died in Oregon, and he returned to New Tazewell where he afterwards married the widow Noe.  While selling good in Tazewell, he and his brother made money and there was never any complaint as to their honesty and integrity, and they always had a good trade.  We will miss him, but he told his family that he was ready to go at the appointed time.

  Robert Lee Whiteaker passed away January 10th at 3:20 a.m. at his home two miles north of Tazewell after a lingering illness of fourteen months.
     Mr. Whitaker was born near Cave Springs and had spent all his life in Claiborne County.  He was a member of the Dogwood M. E. church at the time of his death.
     He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mossie Kate Whiteaker, and four sons, Edd and Curren Whiteaker of Benham, Ky. and Henry and Stirl of Tazewell, and two brothers Clinton and Estell Whiteaker.
     Funeral services were conducted Friday at ten oÕclock at the home of Rev. Robin Harrell.  Interment was in the Cosby cemetery.

OBITUARARY
MOORE, SARAH ELLEN TOWNSLEY-Dec 6, 1939   PHOTO
     Sarah Ellen Townsley Moore was born June 5, 1879 to James and Loutisha
 Townsley at Tazewell, Tennessee, in the County of Claiborne.
     She was married July 21, 1894 to John Marion Moore of Tazewell, Tenn., to which
 union ten children, seven of whom survive.
     Some months ago she made peace with God and began preparations to inhabit one
 of those many manisons prepared for the blessed.
     Her passing was at her home, near Cumberland Gap Tennessee, but on the Kentucky
 side, at 6:25 a.m. Nov. 25, 1939.
     She leaves behind: her husband, John M. (DOB) Moore, and children as follows:
 James Haskel, at home; Clifford Dell, Cumberland Gap; Minnie Mildred, at home,
 Lew Gar, at home; Shirley Edith, at home; Roy Olan, at home; Veri Sona; at home; one
 daughter in law, Mrs. Clifford (Laura) Moore, and three grandchildren, Sidney Doyle
 Moore, Roy Jerome Moore, Delores Janette; a sister in law, Mrs. Lizzie Townsley of
 Tazewell, Tenn. Many other relatives and a host of friends.
     Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. Sterl Whiteaker, Sunday afternoon,
 Nov. 26 at 2:00 p.m., by Rev. Joe Lambert.
 Her body was laid to rest in the Woods Cemetery. Cawood Funeral Home in
 Charge.

The little 4 year old daughter of Dob Moore died last Monday morning of croup.
 The progress extends to the parents deepest sympathy.
